You aren't doomed Kent, your ratings only go down by 15% per UHC missed. As soon as you attend your next UHC your "UHC missed" column will be reset to 0 and it will not be factored into your Average Power Ranking.
As soon as you return to UHC your rankings will pick up right where you left off. For example (I know you love math ) so here it is:
To find Power RankingUHC Kills (x3) + UHC's played (x0.5) + UHC's Won (x2) + PvE Deaths (x-1) = Power Ranking
To find Average Power RankingPower Ranking / UHC's Played x 10 = Average Power Ranking
To find Average Power Ranking with UHC's Missed calculated(Power Ranking / UHC's Played x 10) - (Power Ranking / UHC's Played x 10) x (0.15 x UHC's Missed) = Average Power Ranking with 15% reduction per UHC missed.
Examples? Sure thing Kent!
If UHC missed is 0
The second half of the equation is all multiplied by 0 so it = 0, therefor your Average Power Ranking is then (Power Ranking / UHC's Played x 10) - 0.
Example of missing 1 UHC using 4everless stats:
(19x3) + (21x0.5) + (5x2) + (5x-1) = (72.5 / 21) x 10 = 34.5 =
35. Now apply to 1 UHC missed.
35 - (35 x 0.15)
35 - 5.25
29.75 = Average Power Ranking with 1 UHC missed. For every UHC missed % decrease goes up by 15%.
4everless missing 2 UHC's
35 - (35 x 0.30)
35 - 10.5
24.5As soon as she plays again, plug in the number 0, and it is
35 - 0
If someone can think of a more effective way to balance it so new players aren't at a huge disadvantage because they don't have lots of UHC's played, as well as not punishing active UHCers who have lots of games played being too difficult to overcome, let me know. The main point for me is that I don't think I can support something that rates 4everless lower than anybody right now when she has 10 kills and 2 wins in the last 4 UHC's while compiling 19 kills through 21 UHC's. In an effort to avoid some kind of Professional Boxing monopoly (if you aren't familiar, boxing champions have the ability to decline threatening challengers and only fight surefire wins all the while maintaining their title and being considered champion) I have put in a no sleeping at the top feature. Ard will definitely be at the top if he continues with the successes he has, but if he isn't around to fight 4everless while she's going beast-mode all over UHC then I don't think it can really be stated that he is #1 in the power rankings right now. Power Rankings are meant to fluctuate, if 4everless plays like she has in the next 3 UHCs and Ard dies to PvE then 4everless would take the top spot. If Ard never plays during that time though, it'll take 4everless closer to 8 UHCs to dethrone him. At a rate of 1 UHC a weekend (occasionally 2 but lets go worst case scenario) that means that second place would need ~8 weeks of straight domination in UHC to overtake Ards average.
The system may not be perfect as is, but I think it is the best way to inspire participation as well as give new players the chance to jump right in to the competition without having to grind out UHC's in order to be relevant.
Yes I over explained.
