I have an idea since the new addition of the spectator mode for 1.8 we could create a system that detects if a player has died and if the player has died their game mode will be changed to spectator. Also if a player joins the server during a UHC the system should be able to detect if the player is part of the UHC or not and if not they get automatically put into spectator mode. This system or whatever you wanna call it would also remove the need to reset the whitelist every time an event happens because dead players or players not participating in UHC wont be able to use creative or survival to interfere with the players in UHC

Yes but that doesn't prevent spectators from spamming out coords, or giving details away to their friends. We tried spectator in the past and information was being passed to the players that they shouldn't have known. Updating the whitelist literally takes 5 seconds, so it isn't a problem, and it makes it easy to keep people out after the UHC starts so they don't spoil things whether its in a skype call, through private messages, or through public chat we just don't want it. We have a few people who record the UHC's as well so people who want to spectate can watch the videos

Is there any way to mute people in spectator mode? Well I guess that doesn't solve the sending info via Skype problem. I don't use Skype so I'm not sure if there is a way for one person to mute another.
In my opinion whether the whitelist is reset or not if a player gives out information to other players they should be given a temp ban until they can show that giving out the info was wrong and they prove that they wont do it again.

I agree, but how do we prove it Jman? Unless either the person giving info or the person receiving info confesses to someone else we will have no idea. It's just too much to ask for I think. Mindcrack has a requirement for everyone to record so they don't need to worry about secret communications because they're all held accountable through their videos. Then again, they don't use spectators either because they can just go back and watch each others footage so this is an issue exclusive to us. As for now it seems like only trusted individuals will be able to spectate for recording or rule enforcement purposes. I stay in and spectate so I can continue recording for other people who are still in the game, so if you'd like to watch what happens, watch the videos we upload . Unfortunately, I think this is the best we can do without restricting the game into a way that makes it less enjoyable.
